Jojoba Oil- It Does It All!

Jojoba Oil has got everything going for it! Derived from the Jojoba shrub which grows in Mexico and some parts of the USA, this naturally occurring oil shares the same molecular structure as oils found in human skin. This means that it works to balance oil in your skin, as opposed to adding oil and causing excess sebum to be produces. The versatile structure of jojoba oil also means it can be used to treat many ailments and skin concerns.

Jojoba oil can be applied directly to the skin, and works to moisturise, sooth and protect the skin. Although it is an oil, it is light and non-greasy. Jojoba oil is great for people with sensitive skin and allergies, as it is hypoallergenic. It also contains natural sources of Vitamin E, wonderful for skin healing.

Jojoba oil has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and is full of antioxidants. This means that not only does it moisturise the skin, but it can be used to treat many skin concerns, such as eczema and psoriasis, sunburn, signs of aging, scarring and acne.

Why I’m loving so much of our New Stuff!

Hi, I’m Danielle. I am a 30 year old Australian women, and I have been very lucky to become a part of the team at Right Brain Tribe!

I can see the love that goes into our products and I feel lucky to be a part of such a creative team.

One of the perks of the job is that I have been lucky enough to trial many of our items, and have been inspired to tell you all about the items I adore!!

The first product I want to talk to you about is the Purifer Range!
When I first smelt the soap, I adored it. For an anti-bacterial, anti-viral product I expected it to smell more like a cleaning product than a soothing soap, but I was wrong, I had one beautiful soap that I used every day, and it lasted a long time, I re-ordered more once it finally disintegrated!

The oil has the same gorgeous smell and anti-viral components, making it a wonderful choice to use in your oil burner. It will provide those important anti-viral agents into the air at your hone. It’s truly something special.

My brand new favourite is the Cucumber Facial Spray! I sampled some after I went for a long walk in the sun and the smell was intoxicating. It took the heat off my skin while doubling as a toner. It doesn’t sting, it simply cools off and cleanses my skin at the same time! I couldn’t believe it was only $12.

I have not yet tried the Geranium face mist yet, regrettably. It is an alcohol-free, gentle mist for sensitive skin, and can be useful to treat skin irritation such as eczema.

We also have a gentle rose toner water toner mist which a gentle, calming delicate spray for all skin type, especially sensitive skin types.

Each Spray is $12! It’s only a matter of time before I buy these too!

It has taken me a while to decide on my favourite essential oils! This is because my mood changes, and I have different uses for each one!

Recently, I’m a big fan of The Positivity Blend that’s included in our Higher Ground Trio Pack! It is still at a heavily reduced price because want everybody to be able to give it a try and enjoy the positive energy. Isolation can really affect our mood, and I love burning this oil to get my day off to a pleasant start.

I’ve found I was experiencing some motivational days while working at home. When I had some important work to do, this is when I turn to my Focus Oil Blend!

Why Cinnamon Essential Oil, Bark and Leaf Oils

Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil, and for that matter Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil contain high levels of cinnamaldehyde; which irritates the skin, so this oil is another one that should never be used neat on the skin, pregnant and breast feeding women should avoid it. Safely used on the skin: 1 drop to 100ml of carrier oil.

But just as the cinnamaldehyde can irritate it also bears many gifts, it’s an antimicrobial fighting bacterial growth. Cinnamaldehyde has been found to be of use inhibiting the spread of cancer cells and growth of tumours, specifically prostate, lung and breast cancer*

Bark over Leaf:

Cinnamon Leaf is high in eugenol, this makes it, when diluted with a carrier oil, a great pain reliever, analgesic.

Cinnamon Bark is substantially more expensive than cinnamon leaf and has been considered to be the more potent but recent research has shown that the active ingredient, cinnamaldehyde is present to the same extent in both the Bark and Leaf oils. They both have antioxidant qualities.

Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil has been shown to ease depression and reduce stress and relax the body enough so as to increase the libido, a few drops can relieve cystitis if used in a sitz bath, it is a great deterrent to mosquitoes and diluted with carrier oil, it can be used in a massage oil to relieve cramps.

Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil is, because of its anti-inflammatory properties a fine topical pain killer, it is powerful and can be utilized as an antifungal and anti-viral agent.

When it comes to scent and strength, the Bark essential oil is surprise surprise more earthy and woody, the leaf essential oil; lighter in fragrance. The Bark Oil needs to be handled with a little more care as it is more of an irritant to the skin and mucous membranes.

Both oils blend well with Benzoin, Frankincense, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lavender, Mandarin, Orange, Pine, Rosemary, Thyme and Ylang Ylang.

Oh and FYI its botanical name is Cinnamomum zeylanicum

We have used Cinnamon Bark in our  Purifiier Anti-Viral Essential Oil Blend, and Anti-Viral Hand Soap.

Cinnamon Leaf makes an appearance in our Cinnamon Bliss Soap, Let’s Get It On Essential Oil Blend, Cleopatra Moisturizing Goat’s Milk Bath Soak, Detox Bath Soak, and Menstrual Pain Relief Massage Oil.

Geranium Essential Oil: Creating a sense of security and stability.

Why Geranium Essential Oil?

Well, interestingly; it,s simultaneously’ a sedative and an uplifting oil!

According to Salvatore Battaglia, The Complete Guide to Aromatherapy (The International centre of Holistic Aromatherapy Publications, 2016)  pg. 207; Geranium Essential Oil, in Chinese medicine is cooling and moist, it clears heat and has the ability to strengthen the flow of Qi, it is therefore able to calm the mind, relax the body, ease frustration and irritability.

Further referencing this book, Geranium Essential Oil is ideal for the A type personality, the workaholic, perfectionist type or the person who has forgotten imagination, intuition and the sensory experience.

It is very helpful when hungover or dealing with jetlag. We also suggest using Geranium for a get together with friends, especially when you are bringing in new friends and you want them to feel at home.
If you have the jitters, a few drops on a tissue kept close by will dispel any nervousness when going into a meeting, job interview, etc.

It is great for open wounds, and acne for that matter, as it is an anti-microbial (anti-bacterial is a form of an anti-microbial,) which works to prevent bacteria growth. Due to Geranium Essential Oils’ haemostatic and astringent anti-inflammatory qualities, it contracts blood vessels and speeds up the coagulation of blood, speeding up the healing of wounds.

Geranium Essential Oils works particularly well for women, both as a calming salve psychologically and on a hormonal level, balancing fluctuating hormone levels. It is fabulous for PMS, peri-menopausal and menopausal women.

There is some evidence to support Geranium’s use in anti-aging products,  as it has the ability to repair collagen and tighten the skin, all which minimize the visible signs of aging.

When it comes to the skin, Geranium Essential Oil is helpful when dealing with other skin conditions including, as mentioned, Acne, Eczema and Ketosis Pilaris.

You can use the Hydrolat (Geranium Water) spray as a natural insect repellent ( mozzies really hate it). The Spray is also excellent when experiencing hot flushes.

Geranium is safe to use on children, and fyi its botanical name is Pelargonium Graveolens.

We have used Geranium Essential Oil in our products below:
